LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE is pleased to welcome Italian artists Daniele Di Girolamo and Carlo Lombardi for a residency from 8 to 30 September, 2021. We invite the public to meet the artists for the opening of the residency on September 29, 2021 at 5 pm. This residency is a part of an exchange with the Rad'Art centre in Italy.

Submergé, je jette l'éponge solaire refers to a fluid space related to memory, observing how remembering is intrinsically linked to the concept of forgetting, not as its opposite but rather as an act of rewriting memory itself.

The concept of familiarity is explored collecting human traces, in order to recreate a tissue of small fragments of memory without a precise place or time that can be lived - rewritten - again. Symbolically, Di Girolamo and Lombardi extract visual and sound memory from materials and places, researching the conditions in which bodies and the surrounding environment influence the way of recording an experience.

The final work of this residency consists in creating a hybrid landscape, where the information that is lost and that which is gained is re-proposed for explore what arises from new relationships.

Solar Sponge is the first name attributed to the Barite (or the Bologna Stone) around 1602 by Vincenzo Casciarolo, an amateur alchemist, who, referring to the phosphorescent properties of the mineral, claimed that it soaked in sunlight and re-emitted that light in the dark.
