Presentation of the residency on September 22, 2022 at 5pm
LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE welcomes the Catalan duo Maria Soler and Ingrid Riera for an international residency as part of an exchange with Bòlit, Center for Contemporary Art in Girona. We invite the public to the residency presentation which will take place on September 22, 2022 from 5 p.m.
Espais púb(l)ics (public space - pubic space) is a research project that sets up a catalog of graffiti with sexual and gendered content produced in several cities and neighborhoods. In the cities where the project was carried out, the duo is interested in sexualities and the various feminist forms that emerge from this research. In addition, synergies and collaborations are established with local artists. Research content is generated from actions in the public space. During this residency, the duo also wants to produce a fanzine. As part of the Espais púb(l)ics project, a collection of fanzines will emerge that will introduce cultural differences in the representation of sexuality in the public space.
Since 2018, Maria Soler and Ingrid Riera have formed the collective La noia del monyo with an approach that merges artistic creation and cultural management through a blurred boundary between the role of the curator and that of the artist. Seeking to use art as a tool for social transformation, the duo generates interdisciplinary projects based on research and experimentation with new creative processes and exhibition formats. With this approach, La noia del monyo aims to develop an educational function by giving the projects a new life and a new form. The work of art becomes a tool to create a space for dialogue and reflection, a meeting point to share emotions and life itself.
Maria Soler lives in Girona (Spain). She has a degree in Art History (University of Girona) and a Masters in Theater Studies (Autonomous University of Barcelona).
