Mainly made of wood fragments and other miscellaneous objects, these new sculptures ar presented as morsels of an estranged wreckage one might find in our “sea of souls” . A dozen sculptures happily occupy the space each serving as company to one another. This piece shows yet again Murphy’s untimely skill of creating an equilibrium between complex organization and joyful improvisation. For the first time in his career, Murphy experiments with creation at human scale. Each structure distinguishes itself through its entangled textures in color and in shape. While evoking a plentitude of emotions Murphy plunges us into his world of ambiguity that we just can’t seem to resist.
