By a process of accumulation or repetition of diverse elements, the artist Sarla Voyer makes new objects that lie with the space in order to delimit a new territory shaped by her own points of reference. Connected with facts or places of her personal history, her artworks reveal an intimist nature, expressed by a narrative approach to sculpture. Reference to landscpae and architecture may also be found in her work, also showing the artist’s attachment to the figure of the home. With Retracer la ville, the artist proposes to walk the streets of Quebec City – where she spent her adolescence – and collect different objects, clues and elements. What she will find which then be reinvested in an installation in order to express another vision of the city.
