LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE is pleased to welcome Thai artist Jedsada Tangtrakulwong for a site-specific residency from March 9 to April 10, 2016 as part of an exchange between Quebec and Bangkok, initiated by Le Lieu, centre en art actuel. Since many years, an residencies exchange is prepared in collaboration with the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC). In 2015, an exchange on the theme "Encounter with Strangers" was realized with the complicity of artists run centers from Quebec City (Avatar, LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, Le Lieu, current art center, L’OEil de Poisson and Vu Photo). Camille Bernard-Gravel and Marie-Claude Gendron were the two Quebec artists selected to represent LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE in Bangkok. Their works was presented in the Thai capital from September 26 to October 25, 2015. Following this first exchange, it is now the turn of the participating center in Quebec City to receive Thai artists. LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE selected Jedsada Tangtrakulwong as part of this exchange. The artist is interested in the contrast between the cold winter in Quebec City and the climate of Thailand. More specifically, he wants to populate the gallery space with exotic flora. His work is usually specific to a site where he undertook extensive researches. Concerned by the integration of architectural works through various structures, he encourages the viewer to intimately interact with the environment to explore an unexpected aesthetic. The opening of the residency of Jedsada Tangtrakulwong will take place on March 19, 2016 at 2pm. This exchange with Bangkok was made possible through the collaboration of the Conseil des arts et des lettres and the Entente MCC/Ville de Québec.
