Recently graduated in visual arts at Laval University and recipient of the 2012-2013 l@ch@mbrebl@nche prize, Stephanie Grenier will be working in LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE’s WebLab for a production residency. The artist is fascinated by stereoscopic video that she uses to begetten slow moments, where time is suspended, and where solitude and contemplation are imposed upon the protagonist and the viewer. Short moments of serenity, instants of well-being in every-day life, spaces cradled by the wind, the leaves, the water - this what Stephanie Grenier is drawn to explore. The complexity of the tool dissipates behind the visual simplicity that calls for reflexion and brings forward the poetry of the present moment. Stephanie Grenier suggests, within the framework of her residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, to conceive an online video game makes reference to the visual aesthetics minimalism, in order to create singular univers. Submerged into a virtual graphic world on the borderline between fiction and reality, the player will be invited to travel, by the use of the web browsers, within immaculate virtual spaces. Through her web residency, Stephanie Grenier puts forward a ludic and contemplative adventure game, that tackles the relationship of opposition between the simplicity of the image and the complexity of technologies.
