As part of his residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, Benjamin J. Allard will continue his research on the radio in the contemporary arts from April 13 to June 4, 2021. Our documentation center as well as various collaborators of the city of Quebec will participate in the artist's investigations. A presentation of the research work as well as inspiring sound publications will be presented as part of a Zoom on June 16 at 6 pm.

Benjamin J. Allard will be interested in research art radio, both radio productions and those distributed on other media such as cassettes or RSS (podcast). For J. Allard, conversations are central to the circulation of ideas and reflections on art. Music is also a vehicle for affect and concepts. In fact, sounds suspend the use of images and give importance to speech and hearing. Through his research, J. Allard wishes to enhance the radiophonic medium.

The artist wants to understand how audio publications differ from their print counterparts. He is interested in formats, codes and strategies employed such as recording situations, use of editing, acoustic properties or their distribution networks. In this study, he considers both sound art and other discourses (theoretical, journalistic, etc.). Following this residency, J. Allard wishes to publish an article and produce a work of art inspired by his research.
