Marie-Claude Bouthillier is known to work with considerable speed. In little time at all, canvases accumulate and take over the room. Each painting challenges the unity and allows for new interpretations of an ever changing installation. With her project entitled Creatures, Bouthillier continues to develop her research on identity through self-portraits. The artist creates a fictive workshop and questions the role of the “painter” such as those described in novels. At the beginning of October she will also present a performance in which she will read excerpts from novels involving painters. Her artistic approach and her six-week intervention at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE will allow the public to better understand the importance of installation in her practice.
