Restoration of Behavior

Opening on Friday November 26th, 2010 at 5pm. | Within the framework of the exchange program between LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE and Tokyo Wonder Site
“Our behavior holds a certain meaning in every situation, in some cases with a potential of referring to political and social issues. Thus, behavior under extraordinary strange situations should also include possibilities of connecting to something with a political or social nature”. Based on this thinking, Yasuto Masumoto realized, in 2010, Private Chorus, a speech style performance in which the artist, masked and pulled by a rubber tube, was speaking out his thoughts towards society while given a painful foot massage. For his site-specific residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, he wishes to develop this project by collecting, with video documentation, the behavior of various people in different situations. Indeed, strange performances will be filmed on a daily base and then broadcasted in gallery on TV monitors. The public will wander between these real-time performances and the traces of past actions. The artist, who will invite performers extensively from the public, will attempt with this to create a "strange dictionary on behavior".
