Research Residency

Conference on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 5pm, 334 Saint-Hélène Street.
LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE welcomes curator and author Véronique Leblanc for a research residency in the documentation centre. This residency will take place between January 22 and March 8, 2015. During that time Véronique Leblanc will be seeking to improve both aspects of her professional approach. As a curator, she intends to explore the way some current art practices call for various manners of dissemination, which in turn influences, the work of the curator. She wishes to explore the many aspects of site-specific work in order to better understand its specificities. How does the residency work contribute to the development of contextual artworks? In which way may it influence the work of the exhibition curator? In order to achieve this, Leblanc will consult the available documentation on the site-specific art projects lead by LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, since the 1990. She wishes to explore what is being transformed in site-specific and contextual art for the last 0 years. This first part of Leblanc research follows up her two last exhibitions: ‘’Faire avec’’ a site-specific on the Magdalen Islands and Fabriquer l’improbable, a residency-event that welcomed many artists for a two-months residency at the Est-Nord-Est artist center. For Veronique Leblanc this residency at LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE will be an opportunity to observe her own residency experience in order to sketch the outlines of ‘’context-based curator work ‘’ For the second component of her research, Leblanc, will be making a list of artists living in and around Québec City. She intends to meet with them, visit their studios and discuss their recent. Leblanc will identify these artists with the help of available documentation and through various meeting with different actors of the artistic community of Quebec. Leblanc wishes that her investigations in the documentation center allow her to discover Quebec and Canada and internationally based-artists center who’s work is linked with her own preoccupations. Being in contact with various artist’s work consistently enrich her work as a curator and as an author.
